WINCHESTER, Va. - Roanoke College used a strong start to the second half Tuesday afternoon to key a 4-1 non-conference women's field hockey victory over host Shenandoah.

After a scoreless first half, Roanoke (1-4) got a Liz Hudson goal just 17 seconds into the second to take a lead it would not relinquish.

Down 3-0, Shenandoah (1-4) got on the board in the 65th minute when junior Kelly Matagiese ripped home an unassisted tally from the top of the penalty circle.

The Lady Maroons outshot their hosts 9-4 and held a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners.

SU keeper Wendy Taylor and her counterpart, Lindsay Paz, had two saves apiece.
