FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College scored the games only goal Friday afternoon to give the Blazers a 1-0 non-conference field hockey victory over visiting Shenandoah University.
Rachel Gauza scored in the 17th minute off of a Crystal Parker assist to allow Hood (1-0) to win its opening game for the first time in four years.
Shenandoah (0-2) mounted a furious second half comeback, but was unable to beat Blazer keeper Cheryl Banks (five saves).
