Bridgewater Pulls Away from Hockey

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater College scored two goals in the game's first six minutes Tuesday afternoon before adding three more in the second half in a 5-1 non-league field hockey victory at Bridgewater.

BC (4-5) got a pair of Mandy Nixon goals in a span of 2:01 to open the game before Shenandoah (1-5) answered with a Kelly Matagiese goal in the 18th minute.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, this is close as they could come to tying the contest. Bridgewater scored in the 48th, 55th and 62nd minutes to ice the contest - Nixon completed her hat trick by scoring the final goal of the contest.

SU keeper Wendy Taylor made nine saves while Eagles counterpart Frankee Waldron had three. BC outshot Shenandoah 29-7 for the game, including 19-3 in the first half.
