Volleyball Drops Two at LC Tournament

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Shenandoah University volleyball opened play at the Lynchburg Tournament Friday afternoon by losing to NAIA Mountain State and to host Lynchburg by identical 3-0 scores.

SU (3-5) dropped the opener to Mountain State 30-25, 30-20, 30-19 before the LC Hornets took the nightcap 30-18, 30-26, 32-30.

Sophomore Alex Hamlin had a team high eight kills in the first match with classmates  Jennifer Thompson and Michelle Chandler each adding seven. Thompson also chipped in a team-high 10 digs.

Those three women were also the story against Lynchburg - Thompson had 10 kills to go along with 11 digs, Chandler had nine kills, eight digs and three service aces while Hamlin had seven kills.

Freshman Catherine Beuerle had a combined 47 assists in the two matches.

SU completes play at the tournament Saturday morning with matches against Southern Virginia University and Peace College.
