DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University scored a single goal midway through the first half and made it hold up in a 1-0 USA South Conference women's soccer victory over visiting Shenandoah University Sunday afternoon.
Averett (6-4, 3-1 USA South) got a Chrysa Meaney tally off of Lisa Witt's assist in the 31st minute to give the Lady Cougars just their second-ever win over Shenandoah (2-8, 1-3).

Lauren Elliott kept her club in it with eight saves, but the Hornets forced Elliott's counterpart, Gretchen Sheperty, to make just one save.
The two teams had three corner kicks each.
