NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University snapped Shenandoah University's six-match volleyball winning streak with a 3-1 USA South Conference victory Wednesday night at the Freeman Center.

The Captains (14-8, 7-1 USA South) sent the Hornets (12-8, 2-6) down for the first time in two weeks with a 30-23, 28-30, 30-27, 30-14 win. The victory also gives CNU a sweep of the season series between the two schools.

Junior Michelle Chandler, who was named USA South Conference Player of the Week on Monday, led SU offensively with nine kills. 

Sophomore Jennie Haywood and sophomore Chevon Parker had a team-high 13 digs apiece while junior Jennifer Thompson had a match-best five service aces.

Ellen Koch a match-high 16 kills for the hosts.

Shenandoah is off this weekend for fall break and does not return to the court until hosting Ferrum next Wednesday night.
