WINCHESTER, Va. - Virginia Wesleyan scored an early goal and kept up the pressure in a 4-0 non-league field hockey victory over host Shenandoah University Sunday afternoon.
The Marlins (9-6) got a Kim Tomlin goal in the 7th minute to take a lead they would not relinquish against the Hornets (2-7).
VWC added to its lead with goals in the 24th and 28th minutes before closing out the day's scoring on a Crissy Clancy goal 4:29 into the second half.
Virginia Wesleyan outshot Shenandoah 20-9, including 14-5 in the first half. SU keeperÂ
Wendy Taylor had eight of her 12 saves during that same span.
