WINCHESTER, Va. - Ferrum College completed the season sweep of its USA South Conference volleyball series with Shenandoah by downing the host Hornets 3-0 Wednesday night.

Ferrum (14-10, 5-4) sent the Senior Night crowd unhappy with the 30-17, 30-20, 30-26 victory over SU (12-9, 2-7).

The Lady Panthers used a strong start to game one to key the win. FC hit .268 in the opening contest to the Hornets .075 and scored 22 of the game's first 32 points.

Shenandoah's best chance for a game win came in the final contest; SU led for much of the game and led 26-22 before Ferrum scored the final eight points of the match.

The Lady Panthers regained the serve at 26-23 on a Hornets attack error, and sent Mindy Altice to the line with the three-point deficit. Shenandoah then made Altice' job easy as they committed five attack errors in the final six points, including the last.

Altice led all players with 21 kills while Jessica Walker and Jessica Washburn had 28 and 15 assists, respectively.

Michelle Chandler and Jennifer Thompson paced the hosts with seven kills each with Tina Conner adding 12 digs.
