WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University snapped its 12-game men's soccer losing streak to start the 2006 season Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 USA South Conference victory over visiting Ferrum College.

The win is also the first for new SU coach  Des Lawless. Lawless took over the program one week into pre-season practice after the departure of long-time coach Rob Kulton.

The Hornets (1-10-2, 1-3-1) got all of the offense they would need in the 12th minute when senior Chris Lozada converted a diving header on a cross from sophomore Aaron McGuiness.

Shenandoah then added goals in the 44th, 59th and 71st minutes to dispatch the Panthers (4-11, 1-4).

Sophomore Fabian Rowe added that insurance goal off of a Freddie Ventura assist, while  Karim Kamara and Adam Aldinger scored in the second half.
