DANVILLE, Va. - Shenandoah University clinched the fifth seed at next week's USA South Conference men's soccer tournament with a 4-1 conference victory over Averett in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon.
After starting the season without a victory in its first 12 matches, SU (4-10-2, 2-3-1) has now won four straight heading into next week's tourney.
The Hornets will face Methodist in Tuesday's quarterfinal round game - Shenandoah and the Monarchs could tie for fourth in the league but MC earns the No. 4 seed (and the accompanying home game) as a result of a 1-0 win over SU two weeks ago.
The winner of that Tuesday contest will face regular season champion NC Wesleyan in the tournament semi-finals on Saturday in Rocky Mount.
For the second straight game, Shenandoah staged a comeback to earn the victory on Saturday. After Averett (5-11, 0-6) scored the opening goal of the game in the 19th minute, SU netted the equalizer 20 minutes later on aÂ
Will Weber goal.
Weber scored again in the 59th minute to put the visitors on top to stay before his goal at 63:37 gave him a natural hat trick.
The Winchester native was not done yet - he assistedÂ
Freddie Ventura at 77:12 to put the finishing touches on his seven-point afternoon.
Hornets keepersÂ
Brian Garretson andÂ
Armand Bozorgmanesh combined to make three saves.

The quarterfinal round game at Methodist is expected to start at 3:00.
