WINCHESTER, Va. - Christopher Newport University took the unofficial USA South Conference field hockey championship with a 13-0 victory over visiting Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Captains (3-2) scored nine goals in the first half and four more following the break to dispatch the Hornets (1-2).

Shenandoah keeper Wendy Taylor had a school record 13 saves in the losing effort.
