FERRUM, Va. – Shenandoah University got itself a USA South Conference volleyball split Saturday afternoon by downing Peace College 3-2 before falling to Methodist College 3-0 in a USA South quad at Ferrum College.
Shenandoah (6-6, 2-4 USA South) opened up the day's play with a 27-30, 34-32, 25-30, 30-22, 15-12 victory over Peace (7-7, 1-5 USA South). Methodist (5-7, 2-3) then completed a long day of play by winning 34-30, 30-17, 30-20 over the Hornets.
Trailing two games to one in this opening match, SU rallied for the eight-point win in the fourth game before totally taking control in the decisive fifth game. The Hornets scored the first three points of the game and eventually led 10-3 and 14-7 before holding on for the three-point win.
Junior
Jennifer Thompson led the victors with 19 kills, 21 assists and 13 digs while classmate
Michelle Chandler added 18, 19 and 11, respectively.
Freshman
Tina Conner also played well with a match-high 29 digs.
Coach
Sarah Pelster's club battled tough in the final match of the afternoon, but Methodist proved too much in sweeping SU.
Thompson had 14 kills and 13 assists with Chandler adding 13 and 13.

Shenandoah continues USA South Conference play on Tuesday night with a 6:30 home match against Christopher Newport.
