FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Sophomore goalkeeper
Brian Garretson had a career-high eight saves, but it was not enough Sunday afternoon as host Mary Washington shut out Shenandoah University 3-0 in the second round of the Mary Washington Men's Soccer Invitational.
Garretson had four saves in each half for the Hornets (0-2) against the host Eagles (2-0). The victory gave UMW the championship of the classic format tourney - they opened play on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Eastern Mennonite.
Mary Washington scored goals in the 21st, 27th and 80th minutes to earn the win. They outshot SU 21-3 with 12 of those shots coming in the first 45 minutes of play.
