WINCHESTER, Va. - Rutgers-Camden claimed the 2006 Shenandoah Women's Soccer Shootout championship Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over host Shenandoah University.
The Raptors (2-0) turned Sunday's game in the three-team tourney into a championship contest by downing Bridgewater College 4-0 Saturday night in Harrisonburg. RC then made the trip up I-81 and downed the Hornets (1-1) with a pair of first half goals.
Katie O'Connor scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 14th minute when she corralled Kelley Murphy's shot off the crossbar and rebounded her attempt past SU keeperÂ
Lauren Elliott.Â
With just under 10 minutes to play in the first, the Lady Raptors got an own goal off of a corner kick to give themselves an insurance tally.
Shenandoah got eight shots off a pair of RC keepers, but was not able to cut into the deficit.
