WINCHESTER, Va. - Host Shenandoah University scored the opening goal of its USA South Conference women's soccer match with Meredith College Saturday afternoon, but the Avenging Angels rallied for a 7-1 victory.

Freshman Kaitlin Naill scored the initial goal of the contest in the 17th minute for SU (3-10, 1-5 USA South), but this would be all the offense the hosts could muster.

Meredith (8-5, 5-1) answered with goals in the 31st and 41st minutes to take a lead it would not relinquish.

Playing down two players, Shenandoah battled hard in the final 45 minutes but could not stop MC from scoring five more goals.

Nicole Boucher had two of these goals, and also assisted on the final tally of the game, to give her a game-high seven points. Alex Calvert had the first two goals of the game for the visitors, with Kristy Knight setting her up on what proved to be the game-winner in the 41st minute.

Meredith outshot SU 41-8, including 19-3 after the break.

Hornets keeper Samantha LoPreto made 15 saves.
