Blazers Burn Women's Soccer

WINCHESTER, Va. - Host Hood College used a strong start Thursday afternoon to key a 3-0 non-league women's soccer victory over Shenandoah.

Hood, 6-9 and coached by SU graduate Jen (Storey) Wood '95, scored goals in the 15th and 49th minutes to take a two-goal lead into the halftime lockerroom over the Hornets (3-11).

Katherine Rendon headed in a Cara Jordan corner at 14:04 to provide all of the offense that HC would need on the afternoon.

Jordan set up Liz Rakowski at 39:39 on another corner and scored an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute to close out the day's scoring.

The Blazers held a 24-7 advantage in shots, and SU keeper Samantha LoPreto kept her side in it with 15 saves. With at least three games left, LoPreto has moved into fifth place on the single season saves list with 101.

She is 51 saves behind the record of 152 held by Lauren Elliott '07.
