FERRUM, Va. – Shenandoah University likely clinched a spot in the USA South Conference men's soccer tournament Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 shutout victory at Ferrum.
Shenandoah (4-14, 1-4 USA South) needed to beat either Averett or Ferrum (3-10-1, 1-4) to earn a berth in the six-team tournament. With the 4-0 win over the Panthers, the Hornets can now clinch the fifth seed with a home victory over AU next Saturday afternoon.
Coach Des Lawless' side got all of the offense it would need in the first 30 minutes of Saturday's contest. Sophomore
Chris Wondree scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 19th minute before
Mohamed Toure added an insurance goal 10 minutes later.
Wondree then converted a penalty kick eight minutes before halftime to give SU a commanding three-goal lead heading into the break.

Karim Kamara completed the day's scoring with an unassisted goal in the 70th minute.
Shenandoah outshot FC 15-2, including 5-0 in the second half. The Hornets also held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Keeper
Brian Garretson had to make only one first-half save to post his sixth career shutout.
