NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Shenandoah University played Christopher Newport University for nearly the entire first half Wednesday night in its USA South Conference men's soccer contest, but CNU pulled away after the break in a 6-0 victory.

The Captains (7-4, 3-0 USA South) scored in the 44th minute before adding two more in the first five minutes of the second half against Shenandoah (2-11, 0-2).

Christopher Newport took all 11 shots in the first half and finally got the only goal it needed when Shawn Trueblood finished off a Kenny Huffman assist with just less than two minutes remaining in the first.

Trueblood scored again 51 seconds into the second half, this time unassisted, to give the hosts an insurance goal.

The Captains then scored in the 50th, 58th, 70th and 83rd minutes to provide the final margin of victory.

SU keeper Arman Bozorgmanesh made six of his nine saves in the first half.

CNU outshot the 23-2 and took all eight of the game's corner kicks.
