WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University opened up its 2007 volleyball season Saturday afternoon by sweeping a non-league tri-match from Trinity University and Hood College.
The Hornets (2-0) opened up the day's play with a 3-0 (30-11, 30-13, 30-19) victory over Trinity before outlasting Hood 3-2 (21-30, 30-28, 30-28, 25-30, 15-10) in the final match of the afternoon.

Jennie Haywood set new school records for digs in three and five-game matches with 25 and 35, respectively. Haywood was one of four women with double figure digs against Trinity and one of five in the Hood contest.

Michelle Chandler had 18 and 24 combined kills, with each woman also recording double-digit assists in both matches.
Chandler had a triple-double in both contests - she went for 11 kills, 11 assists and 21 digs in the opener and 13-16-25 in the nightcap.

Shenandoah hosts Christendom on Wednesday night at 7:00 in another non-league match.
