WINCHESTER, Va. - Catholic University prevented the Shenandoah University men from beginning a men's soccer winning streak by downing the host Hornets, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon in a non-league contest.
CUA (3-2) broke a 65-minute scoreless streak to begin the contest with a Tim McAneny goal off of an Adrian Davis cross. The Cardinals then put the final nail in the coffin with just over a minute to play when Brian Pappas ran down a long pass and beat SU keeperÂ

Shenandoah (1-6) had its chances, but Catholic goalie Joe Schettino made two saves to earn the shutout.
The two teams both took nine shots on the day with Garretson making five saves for the hosts.
The Hornets held a 3-1 advantage in corners.
