FERRUM, Va. - Host Ferrum College opened the 2007 USA South Conference volleyball season Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over visiting Shenandoah.

Ferrum (5-5, 1-0 USA South) needed just 77 minutes to dispatch the Hornets (5-3, 0-1 USA South). 

Mindy Altice had 16 kills and Jessica Flanagan 14 for the Lady Panthers, while Chevon Parker had a team-high five for SU. 

Shenandoah played without the services of senior setter/hitter Jennifer Thompson, who was unable to play due to her graduate school responsibilities. Thompson's classmate, Michelle Chandler, shifted into the primary setter's spot and had six assists and six digs.
