WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Lynchburg College took the battle of the Hornets Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 non-league field hockey victory over host Shenandoah.
The Lynchburg Hornets (8-4) scored four goals in the first half to cruise over the Shenandoah Hornets (0-6).
Allie Weir scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 12th minute for LC. Samantha Howard made it 2-0 59 seconds later before Weir scored at 15:48 and 18:55 to provide the commanding halftime lead.
Howard and Weir scored Lynchburg's first two goals of the second half before Jessi Bowman finished things off with an unassisted goal at 60:46.
