GREENSBORO, N.C. – Shenandoah University was unable to extend its women's soccer winning streak to three games Sunday afternoon as host Greensboro took a 9-1 USA South Conference decision.
Greensboro (7-2-1, 3-1 USA South) took a 6-1 lead by the half before adding three second half tallies against Shenandoah (3-7, 1-2).
Ashley Cabral opened the game's scoring in the 6th minute when she headed home a Tessa Hall corner kick. Five minutes later, the two women hooked up again to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage.
GC added goals in the 14th, 17th, 20th and 28th minutes before the Hornets got on the board with a
Crystal Burton goal. She converted a feed from
Lindsay Thompson after being awarded a corner.
Cabral scored her fifth and final goal of the contest in the 55th minute. The Pride outshot SU 32-6 for the game.
