FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Undermanned Shenandoah University battled for 90 minutes Saturday afternoon, but came up on the short end of an 8-0 non-league women's soccer decision to host Mary Washington.
The Hornets (0-3) played the 90 minute contest with just the minimum 11 players, but only trailed 3-0 at the break.
Mary Washington (1-1-1) expanded this lead by scoring three more goals in a 10-minute span early in the second. The Eagles, who got the game-opening goal in the 11th minute, held a 29-1 advantage in shots and took all nine of the game's corner kicks.
SU freshman keeper Samantha LoPreto made seven saves in her first collegiate start.
