WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Randolph-Macon College ended
Shenandoah University's four-match non-conference field hockey
winning streak with a 4-0 win Sunday afternoon on Sprint Field at
Shentel Stadium.
The loss is also the second straight for the Hornets (7-5), who
had won four straight before facing No. 7 in the nation Lebanon
Valley on Saturday and R-MC (6-8) Sunday.
The Jackets got all of the offense they would need in the
16th minute when senior Nicole Klee tallied an
unassisted goal. Klee ripped her shot from just inside the arc past
the off-stick side of SU keeper Danielle Lawson.
In the second half, Macon scored in the 41st and
50th minutes to ice the contest. Klee assisted on both
of the goals, first to Monica Jenkins and then to Kendall Lam.
Shenandoah had its best chance to score just prior to the
two-goal Yellow Jacket run - SU had a pair of penalty corners and
one shot in this span.
Caitlin Titsworth had the final goal of the contest when she
scored off of a penalty corner in 63rd minute.
R-MC outshot the Hornets 16-3 and held a 17-2 advantage in
penalty corners.
Lawson had eight saves on the day.
SU is back in action this coming Saturday with a MAC
Commonwealth contest at Alvernia.
