WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Methodist University sent Shenandoah
University down to defeat in the 2009 men's soccer regular season
finale with 2-1 win Saturday morning on Sprint Field at Shentel
Stadium.
After Methodist (9-9, 4-2 USA South) opened with a Scott Smith
goal in the 44th minute, Shenandoah (4-10-2, 1-6) answered with an
Adam
Aldinger tally 99 seconds into the second.
The Monarchs then got the game-winner in the 63rd minute when
Bret Brennan converted a feed from Jeff Fallier.
SU dominated possession in the game, winning six of the game's
seven corners while MU held a 7-6 advantage in shots.
The game completes the regular season for the team and Methodist
clinches the No. 3 seed with the victory. MU will host Shenandoah
on Tuesday in the first round of the USA South Conference
Tournament.
