ARLINGTON, Va. - Shenandoah University earned its first victory
of the 2009-10 men's basketball season Tuesday night with a 76-72
non-league victory at Marymount University.
Senior Lenzie
Adams hit his fourth three-pointer of the game with 11
seconds to go to give SU (1-3) the lead for good over Marymount
(3-2).
After the Saints turned the ball over on their next possession,
junior Brandon
Bryan canned a pair of free throws with four seconds left
to provide the final margin of victory.
Adams' three-ball capped a flurry in which the two teams were
either tied or traded the lead on 23 occasions during the contest.
Four of those lead changes occured in the final 95 seconds and
Shenandoah took the lead on two consecutive possession on Adams
three-pointers.
The 'trey' also completed an SU comeback in which the Hornets
trailed 33-27 at the half and by nine points 40 seconds into the
second half.
A 7-0 Shenandoah run from the 14:37 to 12:40 marks gave the team
its first lead; the two teams were separated by no more than five
points the rest of the way.
In addition to snapping a three-game losing streak to start the
season, SU now holds a 13-2 lead in the all-time series between the
Hornets and Saints. Tuesday's meeting, the first of two this year,
was the first matchup of the two schools since the 1999-2000
season.

Kline led the victors with 20 points with Bryan 16, Adams
14 and Kenny
Robertson 10. Shenandoah shot 46 percent from the field
and held a 34-32 advantage on the glass.
The Hornets are back in action Saturday and Sunday in the South
Region Challenge hosted by Hampden-Sydney. SU faces Mary Washington
on Saturday at 8 in the nightcap of first-day play.
