NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Shenandoah University ended its 2009
volleyball season Tuesday evening with a 3-0 loss to Meredith in
the USA South Conference play-in game held at Christopher Newport
University.
The Angels (14-17) won at 12, 22 and 23 to eliminate the
ninth-seeded Hornets (14-18) from the tournament.
MC earns the right to face top-seeded Christopher Newport with
the quarterfinal round win.
The 14 wins is double the 2008 total for the Hornets and the
most for the program since the 2006 squad went 14-14.
Sophomore Rachel Maki paced SU
in the loss with seven kills while junior Amber DeHaven had
18 digs.
Freshman Kelcy
Brown just missed a double-double with 25 assists and eight
digs.
