HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Lynchburg College used a pair of goals in
each half Sunday afternoon to win the battle of men's soccer
Hornets with a 4-0 win over Shenandoah in the second round of the
Hampden-Sydney Tournament.
LC (3-0) received goals from Donald Hart in the 12th minute
before Shenandoah (0-2-1) victimized itself with an own goal in
the 33rd.
Lynchburg, which outshot SU 25-7 for the game, kept up the
pressure in the second half. Shane Spanninger and Jim Rochow
tallied within three minutes of one another late in the contest to
erase any thoughts of a Shenandoah comeback.
SU keeper Arman
Bozorgmanesh made nine saves in the losing effort.
LC also had 14 of the game's 18 corners.
Shenandoah is back in action on Wednesday night at 7 in its
home opener against Catholic.
