Soccer Ties Pride

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah and Greensboro battled to a scoreless tie in USA South Conference men's soccer action Saturday morning on Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.

The Hornets (4-8-2, 0-2-1 USA South) dominated possession against GC (3-10-3, 0-1-2), taking 18 of the game's 24 shots, but could not find the back of the net in the physical contest.

SU also owned a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal, including 8-1 in regulation, and also won 13 of the game's 14 corners.

The two teams combined for eight cards and both teams finished the game a man-down.

Pride keeper Woody Wilder was sharp throughout the game, making 10 saves. He had three point-blank stops in the opening 45 minutes.

Shenandoah keeper Adrian Acosta had one save in the seocnd half and two in overtime to post the shutout.

The Hornets are back in action on Wednesday evening with a 7 p.m. contest against Christopher Newport University, the nation's top ranked team.
