WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University earned its fourth
USA South Conference women's soccer victory of the season with a
3-0 shutout over N.C. Wesleyan Saturday afternoon on Sprint Field
at Shentel Stadium.
Freshman Brittany
Butcher gave the Hornets (9-5-3, 4-2-1 USA South) all of the
offense they would need with her goal off of a Hannah Oakes
assist 29:26 into the contest against the Lady Bishops (1-16,
1-6).
Butcher added her name to the scoresheet a second time just
under eight minutes later, setting up sophomore Stormie Malik for
an insurance goal at the 37:21 mark.
Freshman Keri Johnson
closed the book on scoring for the day with her unassisted tally
2:37 into the second half.
Shenandoah held NCWC to just two shots on the day, and Hornets
keepers Kat
Terza, Kathleen
MacKnight and Brooke Strickler
had two make just one save (by MacKnight) to post the combined
shutout.
SU took 20 shots of its own and won all seven of the game's
corners.
The Hornets continue this homestand Sunday with a 2:00 contest
against Christopher Newport. Senior Lauren Morris will
be honored before the game.
