WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University made its second-ever Dig Pink event a successful one on the court with a 3-1 non-league victory over Bridgewater.

After the Eagles (12-13) won at 19 in the opening set, SU (15-15) stormed back to take sets two through four at 16, 22 and 21 to clinch the match.

Senior Megan Gillispie, who led the Hornets with a 12 kills, clinched the contest with her kill of a Kelcy Brown assist.

Gillispie was put in position to end the match after Brown served up two consecutive service aces to bring the hosts to match point.

In addition to Gillispie's 12 kills, sophomore Haley Smith added 11 and senior Rachel Maki seven.

Emily Jones and Brooke Strathy paced the defensive effort with 15 and 12 digs, respectively. Strathy had a double-double with 25 assists.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Hornets wore pink uniforms and conducted a raffle to raise funds for the Side-Out Foundation. The team gave away over $300 in donated items as part of the raffle and sale of pink candles.

Shenandoah continues its Dig Pink events with its final non-league match at Hood College Thursday evening.
