WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University dropped its USA South Conference regular season volleyball finale Saturday with a 3-2 loss to Greensboro.
The Pride (10-23, 5-13 USA South) won 25-22, 24-26, 20-25, 25-17, 15-7 over SU (17-16, 9-9).
The loss prevents the Hornets from tying Meredith for fifth place in the league and sends Shenandoah to No. 3 Methodist on Tuesday for the first round of the conference tournament.
The Hornets and Lady Bishops split the season series, with SU winning 3-0 at NCWC and Wesleyan taking a 3-0 decision in a neutral site match at Peace.
Greensboro salvaged a split of the season series by hanging in after losing the second and third sets (blowing a 24-21 lead in the second) to win the fourth and fifth in decisive fashion.
GC had 12 kills in the fourth set win and then added another nine, against zero errors, in the fifth, to seal the match.
Morgan Hooks led the victors with 21 kills with Liz Widenhouse adding 17 and Katie Sylvia 10.
Haley Smith and Rachel Maki both had 10 kills for SU with Megan Gillispie posting 17 digs.
