LYNCHBURG, Va. - Shenandoah received a pair of strong pitching performances Sunday afternoon in posting a non-league softball sweep over future ODAC foe Randolph College.
Shenandoah (4-0) was a 4-0 winner in the opener before completing the sweep over the WildCats (3-3) with a 5-3 victory in game two.
Junior Brooke Over tossed a two-hitter in game one.
Over won her second contest in as many decisions this spring by striking out 10, walking four and allowing just singles in the third and seventh innings.
Randolph had just one runner in scoring position after the third inning.
SU got all of the offense it would need for Over in its first at-bat.
Freshman Heather Sink led off with a double to right center and after being sacrificed to second, came home on a Jolisa Jones RBI groundout.
The Hornets added to their lead with two in the third and one more in the fifth.
In the nightcap, a three-run third, combined with single runs in the first and sixth innings, proved to be enough for junior Misty Judd (1-0).
Senior Ashley Plaugher was 4 for 4 with a pair of RBI in game two; she drove in the team's first run with a single to center and the final run with an infield single.
Sink was 2 for 3 and had two runs scored.
Judd allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks in 6.0 innings.
Shenandoah is off until playing in the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast on Friday and Saturday.
