NORFOLK, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball team came back to salvage a day one split at the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast with a 5-1 victory over Frostburg State Friday night.
Junior Brooke Over tossed a complete game in the win over the Bobcats (1-3), striking out 12 against just four hits to improve to 3-0 this spring.
Over also walked four and allowed one run on those four hits.
The SU offense got all of the offense Over would need in the first inning when sophomore Jordan Wolford had a two-run double to right center to score Morgan Coble and Jolisa Jones.
Coble, a freshman starting her first game, had two of the Hornets eight hits while Ashley Plaugher and Cat Pruiett were 2 for 4 and 2 for 3, respectively.
Shenandoah, out to a 5-1 start in 2011, completes the tournament on Saturday with games against Salisbury at 2:00 and Roanoke at 4.
