Dutchmen Down Men's Lax

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Host Lebanon Valley used a strong defensive performance Tuesday afternoon to key an 8-2 non-league men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah.

The Dutchmen (1-3) held SU (0-6) scoreless for the opening 39:59 of the contest on their way to the six goal victory.

LVC led 4-0 when Sean Mack scored for the Hornets off a Russell Baron assist, but Shenandoah would get no closer than that three-goal deficit.

The hosts answered that Mack tally with a Ryan Leonard goal with 3:00 remaining in the third, and put the contest away by scoring the initial three goals of the fourth.

Gregory Love put a cap on the day's scoring by finishing a Mack feed with 2:02 to play.

Lebanon Valley outshot SU 31-23 while the Hornets owned a 36-29 advantage in shots and dominated at the faceoff 'x'. Thanks to a 10 of 11 day from Mack, Shenandoah won 13 of the game's 14 draws.

Hornets keeper Andrew Fleischmann made 12 saves.

Shenandoah is back in action this Saturday at home against NCAA newcomer Ferrum. The contest is the second half of a doubleheader with the SU women and is scheduled for a 4:00 start.
