WINCHESTER, Va. - No. 17 Cabrini College held Shenandoah University scoreless over the final three quarters of a 19-1 CSAC men's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon.
The Cavaliers (4-3, 1-0 CSAC) were dominant in all phases of the game in the win over SU (0-8, 0-1).
CC took 46 of the game's 58 shots, scooped up 46 of 73 groundballs and forced Shenandoah into 38 turnovers while committing just 23 of its own.
Shenandoah had its most success at the faceoff 'x', battling the Cavs to a virtual draw. Cabrini won 12 of the game's 23 draws and the two teams each won five in the final 30 minutes of play.
The Hornets lone goal came from a Sean Mack to Mac Hedrick tally at 4:54 of the first quarter.
This tally made the score 4-1 in favor of the visitors, and would be unfortunately be the only time SU would find the back of the net all afternoon.
CC held Shenandoah to 10 shots in the final 45 minutes of play with three Cavalier goalies combining for seven saves.
Shenandoah keepers Andrew Fleischmann, Austin Clark and Brett Holmes combined to make 12 stops. Fleischmann had nine saves in 34:17 of action.
Paul Skulski and Brian Hill both had a hat trick for the victors.
Thirteen different Cavs scored at least one goal and an additional four registered an assist.
SU continues CSAC play next Saturday at Gywnedd-Mercy. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 2:00.
