WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University softball team ran its winning streak to five games Wednesday afternoon with a USA South Conference doubleheader sweep over Mary Baldwin.

Shenandoah (19-10, 9-4 USA South) was a 9-0 winner in the opener before taking the nightcap 9-1.

SU needed six innings to take out the Squirrels (4-23, 0-16) in the opener and just five in game two.

Junior Brooke Over (12-5) and Amanda Litwin held MBC to a combined three hits in game one, with Over striking out nine in 5.0 innings of work.

Shenandoah scored its nine runs on nine hits and led 4-0 after the first.

Ashley Plaugher paced the offense with a 1 for 3 contest that included a three-run triple in the sixth.

Freshman Heather Sink also drove in a pair.

Mary Baldwin scored its lone run of the day in the first inning of game two, but SU answered with three in the bottom the frame, three more in the third and two in the fifth to end matters early.

Senior Jolisa Jones was 3 for 4 from the leadoff spot while Sink and Shatora Lane both had two hits.

Jones also drove in three.

Sophomore Jordan Wolford was the winner from the pitching circle, improving to 6-1 this spring by allowing just the one run on one hit and two walks in 4.0 innings.
