WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Bridgewater College kept pace at the top of the ODAC volleyball race with a 3-1 win over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.
Playing in its annual Dig Pink game, Shenandoah (10-11, 2-6 ODAC) saw BC (15-11, 7-1) take a 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17 victory over the Hornets.
The Eagles were dominant in the opening set, hitting .367 with 15 kills in 30 attempts against just four errors.
BC led throughout the set after taking control with a 10-1 lead that turned a 10-10 tie into a 20-11 lead for the visitors.
SU answered back in the second, leading most of the way including by four points at 22-18. The Eagles stormed back, tying it at 23-23, before Chantelle Phung and Megan Gillispie had kills to clinch it for the Hornets.
Bridgewater led throughout the third and fourth sets to take the match.
Samantha Schambach had a team-high nine kills for the hosts with Gillispie and Blake Parkes both adding six.
Parkes had 14 assists and Kelcy Brown 13 in support of the offense.
Mary Harshman and Nicole Mueller paced the defense with nine digs each.
Shenandoah is on the road this weekend with ODAC matches at Hollins Friday and Roanoke Saturday.
