Lynchburg Stops Women's Soccer

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Third-seeded Lynchburg College ended Shenandoah University's women's soccer season with a 4-1 victory Thursday evening in the ODAC Tournament semi-finals.

LC (18-0-3) and SU (9-11-1) battled to a scoreless draw in the opening 45 minutes, but host Lynchburg stepped up the pressure to open the second.

LC, currently ranked No. 4 in the nation by D3soccer.com, had 15 of its 26 shots following the halftime break.

At 52:53, Alexis Jensen put the hosts on the board as she hit a rocket from just inside the 18-yard box across the goal and into the top right corner of the net.

Jensen's tally started a four-goal run in the next 23 minutes - Lynchburg scored in the 61st, 71st and 76th minutes to lead 4-0 with just less than 15 minutes to play.

Shenandoah finally ended the string in the 85th minute as Hannah Oakes converted a penalty kick.
