CARLISLE, Pa. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team completed its fall semester of action Monday evening with an 81-69 non-conference loss at Dickinson College.
Dickinson (6-2) outrebounded the Hornets (3-8) 27-16 in the second half on its way to the 12-point victory.
Sophomore Jared Carithers paced SU with a career-high 35 points – Carithers was 13 of 19 from the field (4 of 8 from behind the arc) and 5 of 8 from the line on his way to the big night.
Junior Bryce Mitchell, with 12 points, was the only other Shenandoah player in double figures.
The Red Devils seized control of the contest with a 10-0 run from the 12:44 to 9:50 marks of the first.
Carithers finally snapped the scoreless drought for SU with a layup at 8:28, but the damage was done.
SU was able to cut the deficit to four, 31-27, with 4:30 remaining before the hosts sandwiched a 6-0 run around the halftime break to reassert control.
Dickinson led by at least eight points the remainder of the contest.
The Red Devils shot 48 percent (28 for 58) for the game and had two players, Gerry Wixted and Adam Honig, crack the 20-point mark.
Shenandoah is now idle until traveling to Lexington, Virginia on January 2 to take on DI Virginia Military Institute.
