Women's Lax Dominates Scotties

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University kept its USA South Conference women's lacrosse record perfect with a 23-3 victory over Agnes Scott Tuesday afternoon.

Shenandoah (5-2, 3-0) scored on eight of its first 10 shots to jump all over the Scotties (1-7, 1-4).

After winning the opening draw and holding the ball for the first 90 seconds, SU scored eight goals in a span of 3:12 to take total control of the contest.

The Hornets won 24 of 28 draws on the day, including 16 of 17 in the opening half, to help themselves totally dominate possession.

After taking an 8-0 lead before the game was five minutes old, SU got its 10th goal at 22:03 and led 13-0 by the 17:12 mark.

Agnes Scott scored the next two, at 12:27 and 9:03, before Samantha Donaghy made it 14-2 at the break with her goal 15 seconds before halftime.

The two teams traded the opening two goals of the second before Shenandoah finished the game on an 8-0 run.

Eleven different women registered at least one point for the Hornets with freshman Liz Bereit scoring six goals and adding one assist and sophomore Samantha Sisson posting four goals and three assists.

Junior Corrinne Kosmowski had five goals and one assist.

Sisson and Kosmowski each had a game-high six draw controls with Bereit adding five.

SU had a 9-6 advantage in groundballs.

Hornets keeper Ashley Cross had all three of her saves in the second half.

Shenandoah is at N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday for another USA South Conference contest.
