WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University ran its women's lacrosse winning streak to four games Wednesday evening with a 19-2 non-league victory over Hood College.
Shenandoah (7-2) scored the first seven goals of the game and never looked back against Hood (2-7).
Sophomore Samantha Sisson tallied the initial goal of the contest for the victors, scoring unassisted at 24:59, before Corrinne Kosmowski and Liz Bereit got a pair of goals in a 97-second span in the opening moments.
Bereit's first goal, on a free position at 20:22, proved to be the game-winner.
Five different women: Mary Kogler, Samantha Donaghy, Sydney Anderson, Erin Oliver and LIz Grover, all scored for the Hornets before halftime.
Kosmowski had three goals at the break while Donaghy had a half-high four points on a goal and three assists.
The second half brought more of the same as only Bereit and Kogler, with two each, scored more than one time.
In all, 10 different women scored goals with Donaghy tying a school record with six assists. She ties the mark set by Jennie Ott last season against Hood.
Bereit had a game-high four goals along with one assist.
SU outshot its visitors 41-9, had a 26-13 advantage in groundballs and won 13 of 22 draws.
Goalkeeper Ashley Cross had five saves.
The Hornets host Greensboro in a USA South Conference contest on Saturday. Game time is 2:00.
