TOWSON, Md. - Host Goucher College used a four-goal run midway through the first half Wednesday evening to key a 10-8 non-league women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah.
Shenandoah (3-2) scored the opening two goals of the game, the first coming at 29:47 and the second at 29:02, but Goucher quickly rallied.
The Gophers (2-4) reeled off a four-goal run in a span of 4:03 to take a lead they would not relinquish.
The first three goals of this run were scored in 90 seconds.
Samantha Sisson, who paced SU with three goals, finally snapped this run with an unassisted goal at 8:24.
Unfortunately for the Hornets, GC ended the first with goals at 5:24 and :01 to take a 6-3 lead into the halftime lockerroom.
The Gophers eventually expanded their advantage out to 8-4 before Shenandoah rallied with a three-goal spurt from the 18:23 to 15:33 marks to make it 8-7 in favor of the hosts.
Becca Smith then gave the hosts some breathing room with goals at 14:41 and 5:13 before Corrinne Kosmowski tallied unassisted at 4:30 to provide the final margin of victory.
SU outshot GC 29-23, had a 26-24 advantage in groundballs and won 11 of 19 groundballs.
Hornets keeper Ashley Cross made nine saves.
Shenandoah hosts Ferrum on Friday in a non-league game beginning at 4 p.m.
