Marywood Sets Pace Over Men's Lax

SCRANTON, Pa. - Host Marywood used a strong third quarter to key a 14-7 CSAC men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

With the score tied at 6-6 at halftime, Marywood (8-6, 5-1 CSAC) scored all four goals coming out of the break to take a lead it would not relinquish against Shenandoah (2-13, 1-5).

The Hornets had brought the game back to level by tallying the final two goals of the first half.

Mac Hedrick set up Courtney Ledden at 3:56 before Bryan Pope finished off a David Estoclet feed 65 seconds prior to the halftime gun.

Unfortunately for SU, it would be the squad's final goal until Ledden scored unassisted with 5:44 remaining in the contest.

In between those two goals, the Pacers tallied six straight (all at even strength) to seal the victory.

Marywood finished off the game with two goals in the final 1:46.

Pope, Estoclet and Ledden all had two goals each for the Hornets with Estoclet adding two assists.

Junior Tyler Quinn had a career-best 20 saves in the losing effort.

MU outshot Shenandoah 56-28 and had a 49-34 advantage in groundballs. SU was dominant at the faceoff 'x', winning 17 of 26 draws.

The Hornets complete their season, and their membership in the CSAC, on Thursday with a 4:00 home contest against Immaculata.
