WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University saw its season-opening six match volleyball winning streak end Wednesday evening with a 3-1 loss to Marymount University.
Shenandoah (6-1) was a 25-20 winner in the opening set, but saw Marymount (7-3) rally with wins at 21, 18 and 14 in sets two through four.
The Saints trailed 10-5 in the second before scoring seven of the game's next nine points to get back into the contest.
SU briefly held Marymount off, holding a 16-15 lead until MU finished with a 10-5 run.
The Saints then led throughout the third and fourth sets.
Jenn Forbes had 16 kills and Erin Allison 11 for the victors.
Allison had a match-high 40 attempts.
Sophomore Samantha Schambach paced Shenandoah with 10 kills in 14 attempts with Mary Harshman adding nine and Haley Smith eight.
Freshman Blake Parkes had 20 assists.
Shenandoah is back in action on Friday night at 7:00 in its ODAC opener against Randolph.
