WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University had its non-conference field hockey game with Gettysburg College called on account of lightning Thursday afternoon.
With the scored tied at 1-1 with 17:09 remaining, the game was halted for a third time due to lightning in the area. At this point, the coaches of both teams elected to call the contest.
Field hockey rules state that the full 70 minutes must be played for the contest to count, and so the game is declared a no contest and all statistics are voided.
Shenandoah University is back in action on Saturday at Virginia Wesleyan.
