VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The SU field hockey team earned its first ODAC win of the season Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 overtime win at Virginia Wesleyan.

The overtime contest is the second in as many games for SU (6-5, 1-2 ODAC). On Tuesday, the Hornets lost 3-2 in extra time to Bridgewater.

In Saturday's contest, Shenandoah jumped out to an early two-goal lead thanks to a pair of tallies from senior Amber VanHorn only to see VWC (3-7, 1-2) rally to tie the contest.

VanHorn scored the initial goal of the game on an unassisted tally in the 15th minute before she finished off a feed from Alexandra Darrow 10 minutes into the second half.

The Marlins then scored in the 50th and 65th minutes to send the game in overtime.

In the extra session, freshman Kelani Bailey, playing in front of her hometown fans, finished off another cross from Darrow for the game-winning goal.

The Hornets outshot their hosts 19-9 and had an 11-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Sarah Clare made four saves to earn the win in the goal.

Shenandoah travels to St. Mary's of Maryland on Tuesday for a non-league contest.
