GREENSBORO, N.C. - Host Guilford College prevented Shenandoah University from earning its first-ever ODAC men's soccer victory with a 7-0 win over the Hornets Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers (5-5, 2-2 ODAC) scored three goals in the first 27:24 of the contest to pull away from SU (2-8-1, 0-4).
Freddy Gomez had what proved to be the game-winner by converting a penalty kick in the ninth minute.
GC added second half goals in the 54rd, 63th, 73rd and 84th minutes to provide the final margin of victory.
The Quakers owned a 21-9 advantage in shots and took six of the game's eight corners.
James Dutcher made three saves for the Hornets.
Shenandoah hosts Washington and Lee on Wednesday at 7 in another ODAC contest.
