Volleyball Falls Twice

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Shenandoah University completed its play Saturday at the Gallaudet University Worthington volleyball Classic by dropping a pair of contests.

Shenandoah (8-8) was swept 3-0 by Geneva before falling 3-2 to Wheaton (Mass.).

SU was beaten at 23, 22 and 19 in the opening match. In the nightcap, the Hornets won the opening set 25-13 only to see the Lyons come back and win sets two and three at 22 and 23, respectively.

Shenandoah forced a fifth game with a 25-20 win in the fourth and then WC was an 18-16 victory in the decisive fifth.

Against Geneva (14-5), senior Mary Harshman had 11 kills with Haley Smith and Samantha Schambach both adding four.

Nicole Mueller had nine digs and Kelcy Brown 12 assists in support of the offense.

Smith had 13 kills in the Wheaton match along with nine each from Gillispie and Harshman.

Blake Parkes and Brown had 19 and 12 assists, respectively.

SU is back in action on Wednesday night in a home ODAC match versus Randolph-Macon.
